    The color stability of certain rubber-­reinforced polymeric compositions upon exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light is enhanced by incorporating a fadeable, yellow color balancer in an amount effective to reduce the overall color shift of the plastic due to exposure to UV light. The color balancer is an organic dye or pigment, preferably and anthraquinone dye, present in an amount (0.001 to 0.1 weight percent) below that at which it would be used to color the composition.

    A method of decomposing a polycarbonate with water in a supercritical or subcritical state. A high-purity dihydroxy compound which is a constituent component of the polycarbonate can be recovered at a high yield by this decomposition method. This decomposition method is environment-friendly because it does not use an organic solvent, easy to be carried out, has a high decomposition rate and rarely causes a side reaction.

    The present invention relates to styrene based compositions made with a minor part of metal free post-consumer recycled styrene polymer. This metal free post-consumer recycled styrene polymer can include electronics and electrical devices. Advantageously the proportion of the metal free recycled vinyl aromatic polymer is up to 50 weight % of the overall polymer (virgin vinyl aromatic polymer + metal free recycled vinyl aromatic polymer). This means the present invention is a vinyl aromatic polymer composition comprising 1 to 50 weight % of a metal free recycled vinyl aromatic polymer for respectively 99 to 50 weight % of a virgin vinyl aromatic polymer. Preferably said proportion is from 1 to 30%. This means the present invention is a vinyl aromatic polymer composition comprising 1 to 30 weight % of a metal free recycled vinyl aromatic polymer for respectively 99 to 70 weight % of a virgin vinyl aromatic polymer. Advantageously the present invention is a vinyl aromatic polymer composition comprising 5 to 15 weight % of a metal free recycled vinyl aromatic polymer for respectively 95 to 85 weight % of a virgin vinyl aromatic polymer. In an embodiment the present invention relates to flame resistant vinyl aromatic polymer based compositions comprising, 1 to 30 parts by weight of a flame retardant, 0.5 to 15 parts by weight of a flame retardant aid, 0 to 2 parts by weight of an anti dripping agent, 0 to 5 parts by weight of additives, per 100 parts by weight of a vinyl aromatic polymer mixture comprising a minor part of metal free recycled vinyl aromatic polymer.

    The present invention relates to a thermoplastic resin composition for laser marking capable of developing chromatic colors containing (A) 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin comprising 1 to 100% by weight of a rubber-reinforced resin (A-1) obtained by polymerizing 95 to 30% by weight of at least one monomer (b) selected from aromatic vinyl compounds, vinyl cyanide compounds, (meth)acrylic esters, acid anhydride-based monomers and maleimide-based compounds in the presence of 5 to 70% by weight of a rubber-like polymer (a) {(a)+(b) =100% by weight}, and 99 to 0% by weight of a polymer (A-2) obtained by polymerizing at least one monomer selected aromatic vinyl compounds, vinyl cyanide compounds, (meth)acrylic esters, acid anhydride-based monomers and maleimide-based compounds. The total of (A-1)+(A-2) is 100% by weight. Polymerized (meth)acrylic ester is present in an amount of 30 to 70% by weight and the rubber-like polymer (a) is a mixture of at least two rubber-like polymers differing in particle size; (B) 0.01 to 5 parts by weight of at least one black system compound selected from black iron oxide and titanium black; and (C) 0.01 to 5 parts by weight of a dye and/or an organic pigment.
