  Neue 2-substituierte 5-Phenoxy-phenylphosphinsäurederivate mit herbizider Wirksamkeit, Verfahren zur Herstellung derselben, sie enthaltende herbizide Mittel und Verwendung der neuen Wirkstoffe und Mittel. Vorliegende Erfindung betrifft neue herbizid wirksame und das Pflanzenwachstum hemmende 2-substituierte 5-Phenoxy-phenylphosphin-säurederivate der Formel worin R, einen gegebenenfalls substituierten Alkyl- oder Arylrest, R2 eine Hydroxylgruppe, nieder Alkoxy, Alkylthio, Alkylamino, Dialkylamino oder Chlor, X Halogen, CF3, NO2 oder CN, n eine Zahl von Null bis 3, und Y eine der Gruppen N02, NH2, OH, CN oder Halogen darstellt. Bevorzugt sind 2-Nitro-5-(2'-chlor-4'-trifluormethyl-phenoxy)-phenyl-alkyl-phosphinsäuren und deren niedere Alkylester. . Die Erfindung betrifft auch die Herstellung der neuen Phosphinsäurederivate ausgehend von einem 3,4-Dinitro-diphenyläther und Umsetzung mit einem 0,0-Dialkyl-alkyl oder aryl-phosphonit als erste Stufe. Ferner bilden den Gegenstand dieser Erfindung sowohl herbizide und das Pflanzenwachstum regulierende Mittel, welche einen dieser neuen Wirkstoffe als aktive Komponente enthalten, als auch die Verwendung der Wirkstoffe und Mittel zur Unkrautbekämpfung (auch selektiv), zur Wachstumshemmung und Desiccation oberirdischer Pflanzenteile, sowie zur totalen Vernichtung bestehenden Pflanzenwuchses.
