Methods of treating heart failure include administering to a subject having heart failure an effective amount of a triazole compound that is an agonist of the APJ receptor, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound, or a mixture thereof. Compounds particularly useful in such methods are provided herein.
An unprecedented oxidant-mediated reductive amination of tertiary anilines and aldehydes without external reducing agents was developed via the nucleophilic attack of the oxygen atom of the carbonyl group to in situ generated iminium ions, in which tertiary anilines were used as both nitrogen source and reducing agent for the first time.

A simple and efficient cobalt-catalyzed aerobic oxidative dehydrogenative Povarov reaction of tertiary anilines with dihydrofuran has been developed for the synthesis of hexahydrofuro[3,2-c]quinolines. The one-electron-oxidation involved reaction is performed under mild conditions and only requires simple cobalt salts as a catalyst and dioxygen as a terminal oxidant.
