  2-Vinyl-1,3-thiazetidines have been shown to undergo a novel rearrangement to give thiazolidines such as 3 in good yield on hydrogenation using heterogeneous catalysts. When homogeneous catalysts are used, rearrangement takes a different course and thiazines such as 1 are formed. Borohydride reduction yields thiolactols such as 20.
