Chemoselective isolation of aliphatic hydroxyl group-containing and aromatic hydroxyl group-containing compounds is accomplished via formation of polymeric siloxyl ethers. Chemoselective release of aliphatic hydroxyl group-containing and aromatic hydroxyl group-containing compounds from polymeric siloxyl reagents is described.
There are disclosed sulfonic acid precursor compositions, as are methods of using these compositions in, for example, photolithography. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

activated alcohol derivatives is desirable, as alcohols can be utilized in various radical-mediated reactions. Herein, we introduce α-N-phthalimido-oxy isobutyrate (NPIB) as a novel activating group for alcohols.
