5,8,11, 14-Tetraoxa-2,17-dithiabicyclo [16.4.l]tricosal (22), 18,20-trien-23-one (C17H24O5S2) forms an endocyclic 1:1 complex with [HgCl2]. The mercury(II) ion is surrounded by four ethereal O atoms and one S atom. The mesomeric effect lowers the basicity of the S atoms on the tropone ring making them less likely to act as ligating atoms.
