Visible light mediated defluorinative coupling of tetrafluoropyridyl-substituted sulfones with α-(trifluoromethyl)styrenes in the presence of zinc, sodium iodide and organic photocatalyst is described. Highly electron deficient nature of perfluorinated pyridyl group is believed to be the key feature responsible for the reaction efficiency.

Unnatural aminoacids are versatile building blocks. Herein, we report the application of the LADA strategy for the direct synthesis of unnatural aminoacids through 1,2-aryl migration of allylic alcohols. This reaction proceeds under mild conditions, tolerates diverse functionalities, and works smoothly on different thiols.
