n-butyllithium followed by addition of paraformaldehyde, dimethylformamide, or solid CO2 gives the 1, 2-disubstituted ferrocenes [C5H3R(2-C5H4N)}FeCp] [R = CH2OH (2), CHO (3), COOH (4)]. Treatment of these compounds with [PtCl2(DMSO)2] gives the cycloplatinated complexes σ-Pt[C5H2R(2-C5H4N)}FeCp]Cl(DMSO) with R = CH2OH (5), CHO (6) and H, the latter one as the only isolable product of decomposition
