Tetrakis(4-pyridyl)methane: Synthesis, Properties, and a Diamondoid Network Structure of Its Silver(I) Complex
摘要:
The title compound, which has the highest symmetry among tetrapyridylmethane isomers, has been synthesized from tris(4-pyridyl)methane and 4-chloropyridine. The silver(I) complex of the title compound forms a three-dimensional, non-interpenetrated diamondoid network in a crystal.

Efficient Synthesis of Tetra-4-pyridylmethane: Pyrolysis of Tri(4-pyridyl)-4-pyridylazomethane
Tetra-4-pyridylmethane (1), a useful tetrahedral bridging ligand molecule, was effectively obtained by the pyrolysis of tri(4-pyridyl)-4-pyridylazomethane, which was easily prepared from tri-4-pyridylmethane (2) in one step. The overall yield was 32%, which was about 10 times higher than the first reported synthesis (3% from 2).
