The heteroaryl borates Li[C4Me4NBH3] (6) and Na[C3H3N2(BMe3)2]• 2 C4H8O (8) are obtained by treatment of Li[C4Me4N] and Na[C3H3N2] with Me2S • BH3 and BMe3, respectively. The X-ray structure of [Na(C4H8O)6][C3H3N2(BMe3)2] (10) is reported.

(eta(5)-TMP)TaMe(3)Cl (1). Reactions of 1 with a series of anionic ligands have been carried out to form products of the formula (eta(5)-TMP)TaMe(3)X, where X = SR, Me, pyrrolyl, or indolyl. Crystals of (eta(5)-TMP)TaMe(3)(indolyl) (5), were isolated in space group P2(1)/c with a = 8.957(2) Å, b = 28.540(6) Å, c = 14.695(3) Å, beta = 99.40(3) degrees, V = 3706.1(14) Å(3), and Z = 8. The structure confirmed the

synthesis of the first tungsten azametallocene complexes with pyrrolyl ligands, [W(NC4Me4)2L2], is reported. The dichloro complex (L=Cl) was obtained from the reaction of WCl4DME (DME=1,2-dimethoxyethane) with Li(NC4Me4) in poor yield (6.5%). A small amount (ca. 0.063 g, yield: 15.8%) of the dimethyl complex, [W(NC4Me4)2(CH3)2], resulted from the reaction of the dichloro species (L=Cl) with LiCH3.

A catalyst system comprising a transition metal compound (A) having at least one of a cyclopentadienyl group or a substituted cyclopentadienyl group and at least one of a cyclic ligand containing a hetero atom and having a delocalised π bond, and an organoaluminum compound (B), or (A), (B) and a compound (C) forming an ionic complex by reacting with a transition metal compound; and a process for preparing an olefin polymer using said catalyst system.
