The agents protect coatings and wood and other non-living organic materials, in particular textiles, from deterioration by microorganisms. The agents contain at least one compound of the formula
wherein X is nitrogen or a CH group and R1 is a radikal of the formula
wherein Ar, R and Z are as defined in claim one, or an acid addition salt thereof.
The metod provided comprises applying at least one compound as just specified to, or incorporating it in, the material to be protected, in an antimicrobially effective amount.
