    An iontophoresis device comprising (A) a working electrode assembly having a working electrode, a medicine-containing portion and an ion-exchange membrane, (B) a counter electrode assembly having an electrode which opposes the working electrode, and (C) a power source unit electrically connected to the working electrode assembly and to the counter electrode assembly, enabling an ionic medicine contained in the medicine containing portion to be permeated into a living body by the electrophoresis through the ion-exchange membrane, wherein the ion-exchange membrane has a structure in which voids of a porous film are filled with an ion-exchange resin. The iontophoresis device using the above ion-exchange membrane makes it possible to administer the medicine in amounts larger than those accomplished by using the conventional devices.

    A method for producing a modified polyolefin solution, which can reduce polymer loss, solvent loss and further number of steps, and thus has excellent productivity and economic efficiency in a series of steps, wherein an α-olefin is polymerized to obtain a polyolefin, followed by modification with a modifying agent to produce a modified polyolefin solution, characterized by comprising a step wherein an α-olefin is polymerized in the presence of polymerization catalyst in liquid phase to obtain a polyolefin as a polymer solution or slurry state and a step wherein thus obtained polymer is reacted with a modifying agent to modify a polyolefin, and in that the polymer is not isolated, not recovered, nor substantially dried, in a method for producing a modified polyolefin solution by modification, using a modification agent, of a polyolefin obtained by polymerization of an α-olefin.

    A working electrode assembly for iontophoresis having a working electrode, a medicine-containing portion containing an ionic medicine, and an ion-exchange membrane arranged between the working electrode and the medicine-containing portion, wherein said ion-exchange membrane has both the anion-exchange groups and the cation-exchange groups, and between these anion-exchange groups of the one side are contained in an excess amount compared to the other ion-exchange groups. The working electrode assembly effectively prevents the contact between the medicine and the working electrode and, at the same time, accomplishes a high efficiency for administering the medicine.

    A method of producing an ion-exchange membrane for iontophoresis by preparing a polymerizable composition containing monomer components and non-polymerizable components which are compatible with the monomer components but do not copolymerize therewith; forming the polymerizable composition into a membrane form; polymerizing the polymerizable composition in the obtained membrane form to thereby form a membrane of a structure in which the non-polymerizable components are dispersed in the polymer having a crosslinked structure; removing the non-polymerizable components from the obtained membrane; and, as required, introducing ion-exchange groups into the polymer. The ion-exchange membrane obtained by the above method is applied to an iontophoresis device. When an ionic medicine contained in a medicine-containing portion of the device is permeated into a living body by the electrophoresis through the ion-exchange membrane, not only ionic medicines having small formula weights but also medicinal ions of formula weights of about 500 to about 1,000 can be efficiently administered into the living body.
