  Novel tri-mixed alkylsulfonium salts of N-phosphonomethylglycine are disclosed herein, having the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 represent C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl and n is zero or one, wherein no more than two of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, or R.sub.3 are identical. The compounds are useful in regulating the natural growth or development of plants and as herbicides.
