Good for primary and secondary amines: Hydroaminoalkylations of alkenes, which take place by CHbondactivation in the α‐position to nitrogen atoms, are catalyzed by various neutral titanium complexes (see scheme). Primary as well as secondary amines can be used as substrates, and the reactions can be achieved intra‐ and intermolecularly.

The present disclosure relates to methods for the hydroaminoalkylation of an olefin. Such methods can comprise reacting the olefin with a secondary amine in the presence of a catalyst of Formula (I). The present disclosure also relates to catalysts which can be useful in such methods. LxM(R1)y(I)
Magnesium and calcium are too inert to deprotonate amines directly. In addition, N-bound trialkylsilyl groups proved to be beneficial for the synthesis of calcium bis(amides). The addition of hydryl bromides or iodides to suspensions of calcium and imines in THF allows straightforward conversion to silyl-free calcium bis(amides) with bulky substituents.
