R1 is a monovalent, bioactive organic acid residue; M stands for a polyvalent metal having a valence of 3 or more; m is an integer of 2 or more; n is an integer of 1 or more, providing that the sum of m and n is equal to the valence of said metal @, and a coating composition containing said resin particles are provided. The coating obtained is characterized in that it is gradually hydrolyzed in an ionic atmosphere as in sea water and dissolved out, liberating a bioactive organic acid as well as metal ions.
