trialkoxyborates were synthesized by reaction of either perfluoroalkyllithium or (perfluoroalkyl)trimethylsilane/F− with trialkoxyboranes. Treatment of perfluoroalkyltrialkoxyborates with methanesulfonyl chloride, methyl triflate or methyl tosylate furnished the hitherto unknown trifluoromethyl-, pentafluoroethyl- and [(diethylphosphinyl)difluoromethyl]boronic esters.
