A visble-light-induced hydroaryldifluoromethylation of alkenes with α,α-difluoroarylacetic acids for preparation of difluoroalkylated arenes has been developed. This reaction proceeds through the hypervalent iodine reagent promoted decarboxylation and subsequent radical hydroaryldifluoromethylation.

An iron‐catalyzed hydrofluorination of unactivated alkenes has been developed. The use of a multidentate ligand and the fluorination reagent N‐fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSI) proved to be critical for this reaction, which afforded various fluorinated compounds in up to 94 % yield.

Co-polymerised 4-bromopolystyrene has been converted to a range of polymer-supportedreagents and scavengers by bromine–magnesium exchange using Oshima's trialkylmagnesate complex followed by quenching with a variety of electrophiles. Mitsunobu, halogenation and Wittig reactions, were explored to assess the utility of the resins for target oriented and diversity oriented synthesis.
