  Amide derivatives of the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is phenyl optionally substituted with halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halo-lower alkoxy, methylenedioxy, lower alkylthio or cyano; R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkenyl; X is oxygen or sulfur R.sup.3 is lower alkyl, lower haloalkyl or lower alkenyl; and E is --CN.
