Chemoselective cross-metathesis of unsaturated α-diazo-β-keto esters using Grubbs’ 2nd generation catalyst, followed by Rh2(OAc)4-catalysed tandem carbonyl ylide formation-intramolecular cycloaddition is demonstrated.
