  A sorbent comprising a spherical, highly porous polymer with specific hydrophobic-hydrophilic properties, specific pore volume and its distribution, as well as a method of solid phase extraction using said sorbent. Solid phase extraction columns and plates packed with the sorbent of this invention provide reliable high recoveries for a broad spectrum of analytes with various polarity, even if the sorbent is dried out multiple times during the extraction.
