Trifluoromethylation of aldehydes with subsequent derivatization using pentafluoropyridine provides pyridinyl ethers which undergo light mediated substitution by dithiocarbamate anion, affording fluorinated dithiocarbamates.

Meerwein‐type Bromoarylation with Arylthianthrenium Salts

Despite more than 80 years of research, Meerwein haloarylation with complex small molecules has not been possible because the required aryldiazonium salts are often not readily accessible from complex structures. We report the first late stage Meerwein-type bromoarylation of alkenes with stable arylthianthreniumsalts, which provides the opportunity to generate complexity quickly.
