A catalytic protocol for the unprecedented enantioselective monofluoromethylation of in situ generated prochiral imines using 1-fluorobis(phenylsulfonyl)methane (FBSM, 1) in the presence of a chiral PTC based on the Mannich-type reaction followed by reductive desulfonylation has been developed.
