  (EN) The invention concerns the use of a 3-substituted para-aminophenol of formula (I) as an oxidation dye precursor for dyeing keratinous fibres such as human hair, wherein R1 is alkyl, alkenyl, mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl, nitrile, cyanoalkyl, halogenoalkyl, aminoalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, and R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, mono- ou polyhydroxyalkyl, provided that when R2 is hydrogen, R1 is not methyl ou trifluoromethyl; or one of its acid addition salts.
