The condensation reaction of furfural with various mercaptoacetic acid esters was studied. The reaction products were tested for their corrosion protective properties in M-16 cylinder oil used for marine diesel engines. It was found that the resulting 2-di(alkoxycarbonylmethylthio)methylfuranes at 2% concentration completely suppress corrosion of lead plates.

The present invention relates to a novel synthesis method for acyl-pantetheine derivatives. The present invention further relates to the use of said synthesized acyl-pantetheine derivatives as a starting material in the enzymatic synthesis of acyl-coenzyme A derivatives. According to a first aspect thereof, the present invention provides a method for the synthesis of acyl-pantetheine derivatives, the method including the steps of: a) providing a source of pantetheine; b) providing a source of acyl ester; and c) contacting the source of pantetheine with the source of acyl ester to form the corresponding acyl-pantetheine derivative, having the general formula (I), wherein R is an acyl group.The present invention also provides a method for the synthesis of acyl-coenzyme A derivatives as well as the use of a source of pantetheine and a source of acyl ester in the preparation steps of these two methods.

The combination of one or more conventional antimony - or bismuth-containing heat stabilizers with certain aromatic esters or aryloxides containing boron, phosphorus, silicon, antimony, tin or zinc interacts synergistically to provide an unexpectedly high level of heat stability to halogen-containing polymers or resins such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC). In addition the aromatic ester or aryloxide inhibits spontaneous degradation of the stabilizing component in the presence of heat and/or light.
A curable composition comprising a compound having at least an unsaturated cycloacetal group represented by formula (I) (unsaturated dioxanetype) or formula (II) (unsaturated dioxolane type), a compound having at least two SH groups per molecule, and a compound having at least two reactive unsaturated bonds and being selected from the group consisting of bisphenols, triazine ring-containing compounds, and isocyanuric acid derivatives, and a method for injection molding of the composition are disclosed. There is provided a lubricating composition including a lubricating base containing an asymmetric sulfurized oxymolybdenum dithiocarbamate of the formula (1); a symmetric sulfurized oxymolybdenum dithiocarbamate of the formula (2); and a phenolic or aminic antioxidant.
