  Homogeneous blends of poly (parabanic acid) resins and aromatic polyether sulfones and terephthalate polyesters are obtained by plasticizing the poly (parabanic acid) resins. The poly (parabanic acid) resins are plasticized with conventional plasticizers for these polymers, such as aromatic polyesters, N,N-dialkyl aromatic sulfonamides, aromatic nitriles, aromatic sulfones and aromatic sulfoxides. Additionally it has been found that polyether sulfones which are free of aliphatic groups are also plasticizers for the poly (parabanic acid) resin.

  Normally intractable polymers having the structure: (wherein X is 0 or NH, provided at least one X is 0, R is an organic moiety which may be aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic or mixtures thereof and n is sufficiently large to give a solid product) such as poly (parabanic acids), are plasticized by composition with an aromatic sulfone or aromatic sulfoxide su such as diphenyl sulfone, diphenyl sulfoxide or dibutyl-4,4'-sulfonyl dibenzoate; levels of from 5 to 60 weight percent of plasticizers are desirable. Such plasticized compositions are useful as magnetic tapes, as films for use in flexible printed circuits, for fibers such as tire cord fibers, for moldings for electrical connectors and coatings for cables, cookware, glass fabrics and industrial belts.

  A composite immobilized liquid membrane suitable for acid gas scrubbing and oxygen/nitrogen separation is disclosed. The membrane is a solvent-­swollen polymer and a microporous support, the solvent being selected from a class of highly polar solvents containing at least one atom selected from nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorous and sulfur, and having a boiling point of at least 100°C and a solubility parameter of from about 7.5 to about 13.5 (cal/cm³-atm)1/2. Such solvents are homogeneously distributed through the solvent-swollen polymer from 20% to 95% by weight. The microporous support may be polymeric or inorganic material.
