    Spectroscopic study on the photophysical properties of novel lanthanide complexes with long chain mono-L phthalate (L=hexadecyl, octadecyl and eicosyl)

    Ortho-phthalic anhydride was modified with long chain alcohol (1-hexadecanol, I-octadecanol and 1-eicosanol) to their corresponding mono-L phthalate (L=hexadecyl, octadecyl and eicosyl), i.e. monohexadecyl phthalate (16-Phth), monooctadecyl phthalate (18-Phth), and monoeicosyl phthalate (20-Phth), respectively. Nine novel lanthanide (Eu3+, Tb3+ and Dy3+) complexes with these three mono-L phthalate ligands were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. The photophysical properties of these complexes were studied in detail with various spectroscopes such as ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra, low temperature phosphorescence spectra and fluorescent spectra. The ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra show some band shifts with the different chain-length of phthalate monoester and homologous lanthanide complexes. From the low temperature phosphorescent emission, the triplet state energies for these three ligands were determined to be around 22,650 cm(-1) (16-Phth), 23,095 cm(-1) (18-Phth) and 22,400 cm(-1) (20-Phth), respectively, suggesting they are suitable for the sensitization of the luminescence of Eu3+, Tb3+ and Dy3+. The fluorescence excitation and emission spectra for these lanthanides complexes of the three ligands take agreement with the above predict from energy match. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V.     A diester represented by the formula wherein A represents a cyclohexane ring, cyclohexene ring or benzene ring, X is H or methyl group, R X and R Y are the same or different and each is C3-C18 branched-chain alkyl group, C1-C18 straight-chain alkyl group, C2-C18 straight-chain alkenyl or C3-C18 cycloalkyl, provided that when A is a benzene ring, R X and R Y are different from each other and —COOR X and —COOR Y are attached to two adjacent carbon atoms of the benzene ring, and having the following properties: 1) a total acid number of 0.05 mgKOH/g or less, 2) a sulfated ash content of 10 ppm or less, 3) a sulfur content of 20 ppm or less, 4) a phosphorus content of 20 ppm or less, 5) a peroxide value of 1.0 meq/kg or less, 6) a carbonyl value of 10 or less; 7) a volume resistivity of 1×10 11 Ω·cm or more, 8) a hydroxyl value of 3 mgKOH/g or less, and 9) a water content of 100 ppm or less, a process for preparing the same and a refrigerator lubricating oil comprising the diester.

    A heat-laminating composite film obtained by providing, in sequence, a layer of a mixture of (B) a reactive polyurethane containing isocyanate groups therein and (C) a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer on one surface of a film of (A) a saponified product of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, or, Layer (B) and further Layer (C) on one surface of the film of (A) and, a laminated material obtained by heat-laminating the composite film onto at least one surface of a plasticized polyvinyl chloride layer. The heat-laminating composite film of the present invention is excellent in blocking resistance and adhesive strength. Further by heat-laminating the composite film onto the plasticized polyvinyl chloride layer, bleeding of the plasticizer in the polyvinyl chloride layer can be prevented.

    Described is a coloured container of polyester obtained by injection moulding of a preform starting from colourless polyester granulate to which a particulate dyestuff composition is fed. The particulate dyestuff composition used is a particulate intimate mixture of a dyestuff and/or a pigment and a solid wax-like carrier having a melting point above 45 °C. The preform obtained is converted to the final shape by blowing. The invention also relates to a preform and to a method for producing the coloured polyester container described.
