Pd(II)-catalyzed deprotection of acetals and ketals containing acid sensitive functional groups

The pincer complex [Pd(C-1,O-1,N-1-L)(NCMe)]ClO4 (L = monoanionic ligand resulting from deprotonation of the acetyl group of the dimethyl monoketal of 2,6-diacetylpyridine) is used for the high-yield and selective catalytic hydrolysis of aliphatic, aromatic, cyclic, and acyclic dimethyl-acetals, -ketals, and dioxolanes, even in the presence of large substituents. Other protecting groups, such as THP or TBDMS, or very acid-sensitive alcohols were not affected. The catalyst is easily prepared in high yield from Pd(AcO)(2) and 2,6-diacetylpyridinium perchlorate stable to air and moisture, easily and fully recoverable and reusable. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Gewinnung eines reinen aliphatischen Dialdehyd-Monoacetals durch Umsetzung des entsprechenden aliphatischen Dialdehyds oder eines Vorläufers des entsprechenden aliphatischen Dialdehyds mit einem oder mehreren aliphatischen ein- oder mehrwertigen Alkoholen, wobei man Wasser destillativ abtrennt, unter Erhalt eines Reaktionsgemisches, das man destillativ auftrennt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die destillative Auftrennung kontinuierlich durchführt, in einer Trennwandkolonne, wobei man reines aliphatisches Dialdehyd-Monoacetal als Seitenabzug der Trennwandkolonne erhält oder in zwei Destillationskolonnen, wobei man in der ersten Destillationskolonne rohes aliphatisches Dialdehyd-Monoacetal als Seitenabzug erhält, das rohe aliphatische Dialdehyd-Monoacetal der zweiten Destillationskolonne zuführt und aus der zweiten Destillationskolonne reines aliphatisches Dialdehyd-Monoacetal als Seitenabzug erhält.

A class of polymer precursor materials, which, under appropriate conditions, react to form cross-linked polymers, is disclosed. These materials contain a backbone segment, such as polyacrylate, having pendant therefrom mono- or disubstituted olefinic groups, such as vinyl itaconate, having specific polymerization rates. This class of materials, especially when coupled with specifically-defined oxygen-activated catalyst systems, provide paint and plastic compositions which exhibit excellent film formation, strength and durability characteristics.

This class of materials, especially when combined with specifically-defined oxygen-activated catalyst systems, provides water-based paint compositions which exhibit film formation, strength and durability characteristics comparable to those of the best solvent-based paint formulations.
