Highly fluorinated amido ligands have been employed as supporting ligands for homoleptic lanthanide complexes; X-ray diffraction studies reveal multiple Ln···F interactions and a rare example of an η6-bound toluene solvent molecule.
κ2-Coordination of 18-crown-6 to Ce(iii) cations: solution dynamics and reactivity

The coordination of 18-crown-6 to Ce[N(SiMe3)PhF]3 (PhF = pentafluorophenyl) results in a κ2-18-crown-6 complex, a unique coordination mode for an f-block cation. The κ2-18-crown-6 complex showed exchange with free 18-crown-6 in solution and facile rearrangement of the crown ligand into a κ6-18-crown-6 cerium complex.

In the title complex, [Sm(C9H9F5NSi)(3)(C4H8O)], the Sm metal center is coordinated in a highly distorted tetrahedral geometry by the three N atoms of the amido ligands and by the O atom of the tetrahydrofuran ligand. Principal bond lengths include: Sm-N 2.299 (4), 2.339 (4) and 2.366 (4) Angstrom, and Sm-O 2.446 (3) Angstrom, close Sm ... F contacts of 2.536 (3) and 2.556 (3) Angstrom, and an `agostic' Sm ... C interaction of 3.154 (4) Angstrom.
