The present invention relates to compounds of formula I, in which at least one of R5, R6 and R7 is SR12, S(O)R12 or S(O)2R12 group where R12 is a C1-6haloalkyl group, that act, as chemical uncouplers. Compounds of the invention are useful in the treatment, including prevention, of obesity, diabetes and a number of diseases or conditions associated therewith.

A heat resistant colorant for mass-coloring polyesters such as polyethylene terephthalate, comprising pigments and/or dyes and 42-2,000 parts per 100 parts of pigments and/or dyes by weight of a dispersing medium having a hydroxyl value not exceeding 25 mgKOH/g. The dispersing medium comprises a liquid dispersing medium, such as polyether, polyether-ester and the like, and a liquid aliphatic polyester dispersing medium. The colorants of the invention are easily blended and uniformly dispersed in a shape grade polyester, without causing degradation of the polyester, and the polyester shaped articles, such as fibers and films, mass-colored by the colorant are excellent in stability during the manufacture and are uniform in quality.

Process to separate ε-caprolactam from an aqueous mixture containing ε-caprolactam and at least 0.5 wt% oligomers, wherein the separation is performed by extraction using an organic extraction agent. The aqueous mixture may be obtained in a process to prepare ε-caprolactam starting from 6-aminocapronitrile or in a process to prepare ε-caprolactam starting from 6-aminocaproic acid.
Process to prepare ε-caprolactam, in which in a step (a) a compound with the general formula:
O=CH-(CH2)4-C(O)-R (1)
in which R is -OH, -NH2 or O-R', in which R' is an organic group with 1 to 10 carbon atoms, is contacted with ammonia and hydrogen in a suitable solvent at elevated pressure in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to a mixture of primary amino compounds and ε-caprolactam, followed by a separate second step (b) in which the primary amino compounds are reacted to ε-caprolactam, wherein the solvent in step (a) is water or an aqueous medium, the yield to ε-caprolactam in step (a) is more than 10%, calculated on the initial molar amount of the compound according to formula (1), that ε-caprolactam is separated from the aqueous mixture obtained in step (a) by extraction and that the aqueous mixture resulting from the extraction, containing the primary amino compounds, is used in step (b).
