Abstract Single crystals of nickelmalonate dihydrate were grown by the gel technique, employing the single diffusion method. Thermal dehydration of the crystal was investigated by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses. Synthesis and characterization of sub-micron size Co–Ni alloys using malonate as precursor
Sub-micron size $(0.2 - 0.6\mu m)$ particles of $Co_1 - x Ni_x (0\leq x \leq1)$ alloys have been synthesized by the polyol method using Co–Ni malonates as precursors but without using any protective agents such as PVP or any other surfactants. Acetate and malonate complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) with hydrazinium cation

The hydrazinium(1+) metal acetates and malonate dihydrates of the molecular formula [(N2H5)(2)M(CH3COO)(4)] and (N2H5)(2)[M(OOCCH2COO)(2)(H2O)(2)] respectively, where M = Co, Ni or Zn, have been prepared and characterized by chemical analyses, conductance, magnetic, spectral, thermal and X-ray powder diffraction studies. The magnetic moments and electronic spectra indicate that these complexes are of high-spin octahedral variety. The infrared spectra show that the hydrazinium ions are coordinated in the case of acetate complexes, whereas in the malonate complexes the hydrazinium ions are out side the coordination sphere. These complexes undergo exothermic decomposition in the temperature range 150-450 degrees C to give the respective metal oxide as the final residue. The X-ray powder diffraction patterns of the malonate complexes indicate isomorphism among them.

Nickel(II) complexes with 2-hydroxyethyliminodioacetic acid in aqueous solutions of dicarboxylic acids

The equilibria in binary and ternary systems containing a nickel(II) salt, 2-hydroxyethyliminodiacetic acid, and dicarboxylates were studied by spectrophotometric and potentiometric methods with NaClO4 as the supporting electrolyte at I = 0.1 and T = 20 +/- 2A degrees C. The molar and protic composition and the pH regions of existence of the complexes were determined, the stability constants of complexes containing the same or different ligands were determined. The fractional distribution of the complexes as the function of acidity was elucidated. The experimental data were treated using mathematical models to estimate the possibility of existence of a broad range of complex species in solution and to distinguish the species that are sufficient to take into account for reproducing the experimental results.
