Synthesis and structure of cobalt(II), zinc(II) and copper(I) complexes of bis-, tris- and tetrakis-pyridine ligands forming seven-membered chelate ring(s)

Cl4 (9), Zn(entetp)SO4 (10), and CU2(entetp) (ClO4)2 (11). X-ray structure analysis for 3 has revealed a distorted environment about the zinc(II) ion with bidentate endip (ZnN: 2.09 Å) and two chloride ions (ZnCl: 2.24 Å). The seven-membered chelate ring formed by endip assumes a non-planar conformation and the NZnN bite angle is fairly large (119.0°). The ClZnCl bite angle is also large (122.0°)
