    The invention provides a triazole derivative represented by a general formula ##STR1## (wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group, X is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or an alkyl group, n is an integer of 1-5, Y is a halogen atom, a nitro group or an alkyl group, and m is an integer of 2-5) as well as insecticide and acaricide containing the same as an active ingredient. The triazole derivatives according to the invention exhibit an excellent effectiveness against harmful pests, particularly aphids and mites.

    Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkenyloxy group; an alkoxy group optionally substituted by one or more phenyl radicals or atoms of fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine; a phenoxy group optionally substituted by one or more lower alkyl or lower alkoxy groups or atoms of fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine; an alkylthio group optionally substituted by one or more phenyl radicals; a phenylthio radical optionally substituted by one or more atoms of fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, or lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, of lower haloalkyl radicals; or an amino radical optionally substituted by one or two alkyl radicals, each of which may optionally be substituted by one or more alkoxy radicals or phenyl radicals; and R.sup.2 is a phenyl radical optionally substituted by one or more atoms of fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine or by one or more lower haloalkyl radicals, or by one or more phenoxy radicals optionally substituted by one or more atoms of fluorine, chlorine, bromine, or iodine, or by one or more lower haloalkyl groups. The compounds are useful for controlling insect pests.

    There are provided triazole derivatives represented by a general formula ##STR1## (wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group having a carbon number of 1-4, R.sup.2 is a phenyl group substitutable with a halogen atom, an alkyl group having a carbon number of 1-4 or the like, R.sup.3 is an alkenyl group having a carbon number of 3 or more substitutable with 1-4 halogen atoms, a phenyl group substituted with 1 or more halogen atoms or the like), a method producing the same, and a pest controlling agent containing the same as an active ingredient. The triazole derivatives according to the invention have an excellent insecticidal action against harmful pests such as hemipteran insects, lepidopteran insects, dipteran insects, mites and the like and also have an excellent ovicidal action against eggs of these pests. Furthermore, they have a preventively controlling effect on serious diseases such as sheath blight, blast and the like without badly affecting crops.

    Compounds of formula: wherein R' is an optionally substituted alkoxy, alkenyloxy, phenoxy, alkylthio, phenylthio or amino group and R2 is a chloro- and/or trifluoromethyl-substituted phenyl or phenoxyphenyl group. A typical example is the compound of formula I where R1 is ethoxy and R2 is 3,4-dichloro-phenyl. They may be prepared by reacting a compound of formula with an isocyanate of formula R2NCO. The compounds of formula I, and compositions containing them are useful as I insecticides.
