A new method for the synthesis of secondary thiocarbamates from readily available isocyanides and thiosulfonates with broad functional group tolerance is reported. The reaction proceeds under mild reaction conditions in isopropanol and is catalyzed by inexpensive sodium iodide.

Copper‐catalyzed reaction of aryl isocyanides with active methylene isocyanides and arylsulfonothioates is developed for the synthesis of sulfur‐containing trisubstituted imidazoles. This reaction not only forms new C−C, C−N, and C−S bonds in one step, but also provides a new strategy for the construction of trisubstituted imidazoles based on the isocyanide‐isocyanide [3+2] cycloaddition.

A Cu-catalyzed cascade reaction of four-membered silacyclobutanes (SCBs) and thiosulfonates to construct S (Se)-containing organosiliconcompounds was developed. The protocol shows a wide range of substrate scope, high functional group compatibility and mild reaction conditions. New C–S (Se) and Si–O bonds were constructed in one step.

A visible-light promoted radical reaction between α-bromoacetophenone and thiosulfate has been reported. Two C−S bonds or one C−S and one C−Se bond can be stably constructed and the thiosulfonate is fully utilised with good atomic economy. The reaction uses ethanol as a green solvent, with mild reaction conditions and good substrate universality.
