Treatment of 1,1,4,4-tetramethyl-1,4-distanna-2,5-cyclohexadiene with organoboron dihalides or boron trihalides generally leads to organoboron polymers and (CH3)2SnX2 (X Cl, Br). Ferrocenyldibromoborane, FcBBr2 (Fc (C5H5)Fe(C5H4)), reacts atypically with formation of FcB(CH CH)2BFc, which on controlled methanolysis affords CH3OB(CH CH)2BOCH3.
