A Ni-catalyzed aryl C–Nbondcleavage of mono-protected anilines, N-arylsulfonamides, has been developed. A new N-heterocyclic carbene derived from benzoimidazole shows high reactivity for the C–Ncleavage/C–C cross-coupling reaction. The ortho-directing group is not required to break the C–Nbond of sulfonyl-protected anilines, which are not limited to π-extended anilines. The mechanistic studies
In the presence of a catalytic amount of iron salts and N,N,N,N-tetramethylethylene diamine as additive, alkyl bromide reacted with biphenyl magnesium bromide to obtain the cross-coupling product in good yields. The suitable amount of catalyst and the additive are 5 % mol (based on alkyl bromide), 1.3 equiv(based on alkyl bromide), respectively. Under the optimal conditions, the yields of the cross-coupling could reach up to 92.3 %.

Nickel-catalyzed reductive cross coupling of activated primaryamines with aryl halides under mild reaction conditions has been achieved for the first time. Due to the avoidance of stoichiometric organometallic reagents and external bases, the scope regarding both coupling partners is broad. Thus, a wide range of substrates, natural products and drugs with diverse functional groups are tolerated. Moreover

The development of an arylation protocol for simple arenes with diaryliodonium salts using the Herrmann-Beller palladacycle catalyst is reported. The reaction takes simple aromatic feedstocks and creates valuable biaryls for use in all sectors of the chemical industry.
