  Durch Einwirkung von Thionylchlorid und Pyridin auf α,α-disubstituierte Malonsäurehalbamide ist eine Reihe am Stickstoffatom unsubstituierter Azetidin-2,4-dione (Malonimide) dargestellt worden. Als besonders interessant erweisen sich die unerwartete Säurebeständigkeit der neuen Verbindungen sowie ihre Reduktion mit Lithiumaluminiumhydrid zu 3,3-disubstituierten Azetidinen.
