A first example of diphenylborinic acid catalyzed α-addition to isocyanide with aldehyde and water is described. The reaction proceeded smoothly in the presence of water and 5 mol % of borinic acid to give the corresponding α-hydroxyamides in good to high yields. A wide range of aldehydes and isocyanides are applicable to this reaction.
Silica Nanoparticles as a Highly Efficient Catalyst for the One-Pot Synthesis of 2-Hydroxyacetamide Derivatives from Isocyanides and Electron-Poor Aromatic Aldehydes
Reaction of an isocyanide with an electron‐poor aromaticaldehyde in the presence of silicananoparticles (silica NP; ca. 42 nm) proceeds smoothly at room temperature to afford 2‐hydroxyacetamide derivatives in high yields (Scheme 1 and Table 1).
