Mono- and binuclear pyridylbenzimidazole based Re(i) tricarbonyl complexes exhibited antibacterial activity against Gram(+) bacterium. TDDFT calculation, in singlet and triplet states, assigned the lowest energy transition to MLCT and MLCT/3IL, respectively.
