Synthesis and Electrochemical Properties of Oligo- and Poly(thienylphenylamine)s

The oxidative polymerization of tris(thienylphenyl)amine derivatives was performed in acetonitrile by electrochemical and chemical methods. Oligomers were synthesized by stepwise coupling using coupling reactions. The polymer prepared using the trifunctional monomer on a Pt electrode showed significantly better redox behavior compared to that of the linear polymeric analogue, The branching polymers exhibit conductivity of 2-6 S/cm, which is more than 1 order of magnitude greater than the analogous linear polymer. The electropolymerization of trifunctional monomers provides the formation of a large amount of redox active polymers with a large capacity (ca. 40 mC/cm(2)) and a good redox activity in the electron transfer of ferrocene on the electrode.

A 405 nm light-activatable terthiophene-based tetrazole was designed that reacts with a fumarate dipolarophile with the second-order rate constant k2 exceeding 10(3) M(-1) s(-1). The utility of this laser-activatable tetrazole in imaging microtubules in a spatiotemporally controlled manner in live cells was demonstrated.

thiophenes influenced the photophysical properties of these complexes, as well as their bindingaffinities toward Aβ42 fibrils. Thermoresponsive fluorescent polymers based on a quaterthiophene-containing boron dipyrromethene (Bodipy) dyad dispersed in silicone rubber

A quaterthiophene-based boron dipyrromethene (Bodipy) dyad when dispersed uniformally in silicone rubber produces a thermoresponsive fluorescent material. The yellow fluorescence colour observed at low temperatures <200 °C changes to green upon heating the polymer. In contrast, the phenylene-based Bodipy dyad in silicone rubber displays a partial on to off fluorescence change at around 70 °C.

Abstract A series of β-linked quaterthiophene and tetrathiafulvalenedimers 1–4 has been prepared. Their redox and optical properties are almost the same as the parent monomers indicative of very little interaction between the monomers. Crystal structures of 1, 2, and 4 are highly one-dimensional, in which molecular structure of 1 is planar whereas those of 2 and 4 are in a bent form.
