    The present invention has its object to provide a medical adhesive excellent in safety, reactivity (curing rate) and duration of adhesive strength. A medical adhesive of the present invention comprises a hydrophilic urethane prepolymer (UP) obtained by reacting a fluorine-containing nonaromatic polyisocyanate component (A) and a polyol component (B) having a hydrophilic polyol (B 1 ) as the essential component, and a phenolic radical scavenger (PRS). The content of (PRS) is preferably 0.01 to 3% by weight based on the weight of (UP). The content of oxyethylene groups in (B) is preferably 30 to 100% by weight based on the weight of the oxyalkylene groups in (B). Preferably, (B) is a mixture of a random copolymer obtained by addition of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide to diols and polypropylene glycol. The content of isocyanate groups in the medical adhesive is 1 to 10% by weight based on the weight of (UP). The medical adhesive of the present invention is suitable for bonding body tissues, such as lung, artery and heart in particular.

    A new composition of matter for a diamidodiol and a method for preparing the diamidodiol. The exemplary diamidodiol has the formula C 15 H 30 N 2 O 4 and is prepared by reacting a first quantity of 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol with a second quantity of a di-substituted malonyl dichloride (i.e., diethylmalonyl dichloride), preferably in ethyl acetate as solvent. A tetraamido macrocycle is prepared from the diamidodiol in two steps by oxidizing the diamidodiol to form a diacid followed by coupling using a known procedure of the diacid with an aryl diamine (e.g., 1 ,2-diaminobenzene)to yield the tetraamido macrocycle.

    A method of adhesion which comprises applying a two-step reactive type tacky·adhesive agent comprising (1) a non-photopolymerizable epoxy resin or isocyanate compound, (2) a curing agent therefor and (3) a compound having at least one photopolymerizable vinyl group in one molecule onto a substrate, irradiating the whole applied surface with light to develop the tackiness, and sticking the substrate together to a material to be bonded, while the tackiness is retained, followed by curing. The method provides excellent green bonding strength and can permit the satisfactory adhesion without clamping, and can be particularly suitably utilized in the adhesion of materials to be bonded which have a curved surface difficult to be clumped.
