    A method for increasing color-fastness of organic coloring matters against light is disclosed, the color-fastness of the organic coloring matter of which absoption maximum is the region from 400nm to 700nm is increased by coexisting with a metal complex represented by the following general formula: in which R1, R2, R1' and R2' are a hydrogen atom or a substituent, X and X' are O or S, Y is O, S, SO or SO2 and M is a metal atom. The method adapts to improve the fastness of color images of silver halide photographic materials. In this case, the organic coloring matter is a dyestuff formed by coupling a color forming coupler with an oxidation product of a color developing agent in the silver halide color photographic material or a dyestuff diffused to a recieving layer of the diffusion transfer silver halide color photographic material.

    A silver halide photographic material containing at least one of couplers represented by the general formula (I) and at least one of the compounds represented by the general formula [XII] is disclosed. Formula [I] wherein Z is a group of nonmetal atoms necessary to complete a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring where the ring formed by Z may be substituted; X is a hydrogen atom or a substituent capable of being released upon reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent and R is a hydrogen atom or substituent; wherein R21 is a hydrogen atom or a group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group and aryl group, R22 and R23 are independently selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group and an aryl group. The photographic material provides a dye-image highly stable against heat and light, and a formation of stain at a non-image area is prevented.
