    Triethylammonium salt of pyran semisquaraine reacted with N-methyl-substituted heterocyclic salts to give unsymmetrical di-tert-butyl-substituted squarylium dyes. The effect of the terminal heterocycles on the spectral properties of the obtained dyes was studied, and the electronic structure of squaraines and electronic transitions therein were analyzed by quantum chemical methods.

    We report here a synthesis of a new rhodacyanines 7X analogous to MKT-077 with quantitative yield using as starting material the thiazolinethione 1. Merocyanines 4 and their tosylates 5 have been prepared as intermediates for this class of compounds. The reactions leading to rhodacyanine 7X have been studied under microwave irradiation.

  • Effect of arrangement of the styryl fragment on the optical properties and complexation of mono-and bis(styryl)-substituted N-methylpyridinium perchlorates containing benzo-15-crown-5 ether moieties

    Using 1H NMR spectroscopy and steady-state and time-resolved electronic spectroscopy, the optical properties of mono-and bis(styryl)pyridinium perchlorates and their complexes with Mg2+, Ba2+ cations were studied. The stability constants of the complexes were determined using spectrophotometric titration. The formation of inclusion complexes for Mg2+ and sandwich type complexes for Ba2+ results in fluorescence enhancement and increases the lifetimes of the excited states of the initial bis-styryl ligands. The variation of position of the styryl fragment in the pyridinium aromatic ring gives rise to photochromic crown ethers with different optical and photophysical characteristics and is also an easy route to bis(crown-ethers) of symmetrical and unsymmetrical structure.

    Phenylazathiacrown ether monostyryl and bis(styryl) dyes were synthesized and their complex forming ability was evaluated in acetonitrile by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy.     The present invention is to provide a new anti- leishmania agent with fewer side effects, having a high cell proliferation-inhibiting effect to leishamia protozoa, and also easy to manufacture at a low cost. A compound wherein a heterocycle with a conjugated system and a nitrogen atom and a heterocycle with a nitrogen atom and a sulfur atom are bound by a carbon chain with an ethylene group, that is a compound wherein a specific 5- to 8-membered heterocyclic ring and a specific 5- to 8-membered heterocycle having a conjugated system are bound via a vinylene group, more particularly a specific rhodacyanine dye compound is used as an active ingredient of the anti- leishmania agent.
