Synthesis of Pyrido[1,2-a][1,3,5]Triazine Derivatives by Aminomethylation of 6-Amino-4-Aryl-2-Oxo-1,2-Dihydropyridine-3,5-Dicarbonitriles

The aminomethylation of 6-amino-4-aryl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitriles by treatment with primary amines and an excess of formaldehyde resulted in the formation of 3-R-8-aryl-6-oxo-1,3,4,6-tetrahydro-2De-pyrido[1,2-D degrees][1,3,5]triazine-7,9-dicarbonitriles. The structure of 6-oxo-3,8-di-phenyl-1,3,4,6-tetrahydro-2De-pyrido[1,2-D degrees][1,3,5]triazine-7,9-dicarbonitrile was investigated by X-ray structural analysis.

A facile and greenersynthesis of a series of 3,5-dicyanopyridin-2(1H)-onederivatives was accomplished via the one-pot reaction of aldehyde, malononitrile and sodium hydroxide in aqueousmediaundermicrowaveirradiation.
