Abstract New compounds derived from 3-halo-2,6-lutidine N -oxides were synthesized as potential precursors to light-conversion molecular materials. The synthesis, chemical characterisation and spectroscopic studies of the six-coordinate praseodymium(III) complex with the bromide derivative are reported.
