prepared as a conformationally locked analogue of glutamate. This compound, in combination with two other pyrrolidine dicarboxylates, has been used to define the structural elements that differentiate substrate and nonsubstrate inhibitors of a high-affinity, sodium-dependent glutamate transporter.
