    There are provided novel sulfonated Group Va ylides defined by the following Formula I: wherein R1, R2, R3, and R4 are either alike or different members selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl radicals having from about one to about 24 carbon atoms, preferably from about one to about 10 carbon atoms; aryl radicals having from about six to about 20 carbon atoms, preferably from about six to about 10 carbon atoms; alkenyl radicals having from about two to about 30 carbons atoms, preferably from about two to about 20 carbon atoms; cycloalkyl radicals having from about three to about 40 carbon atoms, preferably from about three to about 30 carbon atoms; aralkyl and alkaryl radicals having from about six to about 40 carbon atoms, preferably from about six to about 30 carbon atoms; a halogen radical selected from the group consisting of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine, preferably chlorine; a hydroxyl group; an alkoxy or aryloxy group; a hydrocarbyl group, such as defined above, carrying halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxy or aryloxy; and a sulfonato group (SO3-) or an alkyl, aryl,-alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or alkaryl group carrying a sulfonato group; M is sulfur or oxygen, preferably oxygen; F is phosphorus, arsenic or antimony, preferably phosphorus; and A is the cationic residue of a base selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal hydroxide, an alkyl or aryl lithium, an alkoxide and a hydrocarbyl-substituted ammonium hydroxide. The process for preparing these sulfonated ylides comprises sulfonating an ylide defined by the following Formula II: to obtain the sulfonated ylide defined by the following Formula III: wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, F and M are as defined above. The sulfonated ylide is reacted with a base selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal hydroxide, an alkyl or aryl lithium, an alkoxide and a hydrocarbyl-substituted ammonium hydroxide to obtain the ylide defined by Formula I.

    Provided are a carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin composition excellent in interfacial adhesion between carbon fiber and a thermoplastic resin and excellent in dynamic characteristics, and a molding material, a prepreg, and a method for producing the same. The carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin composition includes the following components (A) and (B), carbon fiber and a thermoplastic resin; component (A): (A1) a bifunctional or higher functional epoxy compound and/or (A2) an epoxy compound which has a monofunctional or higher epoxy group and has one or more types of functional groups selected from a hydroxyl group, an amide group, an imide group, a urethane group, a urea group, a sulfonyl group and a sulfo group; and component (B): 0.1 to 25 parts by mass, based on 100 parts by mass of the component (A), of at least one reaction accelerator selected from the group consisting of [a] a specific tertiary amine compound (salt) (B1),[b] a specific quaternary ammonium salt (B2) and [c] a quaternary phosphonium salt and/or phosphine compound (B3).

    Provided is a carbon fiber forming raw material having excellent interfacial adhesion between carbon fibers and a thermosetting resin and capable of giving a molded article having excellent mechanical characteristics. The carbon fiber forming raw material is a carbon fiber forming raw material (Z) as a prepreg including sizing agent-coated carbon fibers and a thermosetting resin or a carbon fiber forming raw material (Y) as a forming material that includes sizing agent-coated carbon fibers and has a woven fabric form or a braid form. The sizing agent includes components (A) and (B). The component (A) is an epoxy compound having two or more epoxy groups or two or more types of functional groups. The component (B) is one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of a tertiary amine compound, a tertiary amine salt, a quaternary ammonium salt, a quaternary phosphonium salt, and a phosphine compound. The component (B) is contained in an amount of 0.1 to 25 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the component (A).
