  The invention concerns novel benzamides and their pharmacologically acceptable salts which are useful as gastromotor agents and correspond to the following general formula (I): ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or a hydrogen atom; R.sub.2 is alkyl, lower alkenyl, benzyl, cycloalkylalkyl, cycloalkenylalkyl or a hydrogen atom; R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 each are lower alkyl or a hydrogen atom, and X is a halogen atom.
