The structure of bis[4-amino-1-methyl-2(1H)-pyrimidinone] dichlorocopper(II) consists of discrete [CuCl2-(C5H7N3O)(2)] units. The coordination about the Cu-II ion is distorted 4 + 2 octahedral. The non-equivalent 1-methylcytosine ligands are bonded to the metal through N(3) and more weakly through O(2). The average N-Cu-Cl trans angle is 159.9(1)degrees.
