  从八角茴香的花中分离出了两个新的异戊烯基化的C 6 –C 3化合物，illicinin A（1）和（4 S）-illicinone I（2）。通过光谱方法阐明了新化合物的结构。通过与（4 S）-illicinone A（4）比较其CD光谱和比旋光度来确定（4 S）-illicinone I的绝对结构。Illicinin A（1）和4-烯丙基-2,6-二甲氧基-3-（3-甲基丁-2-烯基）苯酚（3）被发现在原代培养的大鼠皮质神经元中以0.1至10μM的浓度表现出促进神经突生长的活性。通过采用顺序Stille反应将异戊二烯基和烯丙基引入苯环，合成了伊利霉素A及其衍生物，用于结构-活性关系研究，从而表明1分子中的烯丙基苯基部分对其神经营养特性至关重要。
