                                    strategy for multi-substituted isoquinoline derivatives has been developed using visible light-promoted vinyl isocyanide insertion with diaryliodonium salts at room temperature. The methodology presented here represents the first example of isoquinoline synthesis via somophilic isocyanide insertion.
